Why don’t I qualify for home health any more?
In order to receive home health you must first quality.
You must be “home bound,” seen by a physician, and have a signed certification to begin home health.
What does it mean to be home bound? As noted by medicareinteractive.org medicare considers you home bound if:
1. You need the help of another person or medical equipment such as crutches, a walker, or a wheelchair to leave your home, or your doctor believes that your health or illness could get worse if you leave your home.
2. And, it is difficult for you to leave your home and you typically cannot do so.
An initial certification of home health lasts 60 days. Meaning in order to continue care after 60 days, your physician will need to sign a certification stating you still have medical necessity for home health services.
Keep in mind, in order to continue you would need to meet the requirements of being home bound as well as re-certification. If either your physician or your home health agency do not feel you qualify, you will be discharged.
